The Pluscarden community retreat, scheduled for the first week in October, was nearly cancelled this year when our booked preacher had to cancel due to sickness. Happily Fr. Bill Russell WF was in the area, and agreed to stand in as our preacher at a very late stage.
Foundations - November 2023
The builders of our new St. Joseph's Guest House continue their work according to schedule. In fact they have work sheets which set out exactly what is to be achieved each day, what and who is required for that, and also how much it will cost. They all seem to work very hard, with great competence and efficiency, as do the many fascinating and large machines, which come and go according to need.
Official Permission for Development
Friends of the Abbey will be disappointed to read that, on July 13th, Moray Council published an official grant of Planning Permission for the proposed housing development at Barnhill. The site for the 9 new houses is almost immediately opposite the monastery, just on the other side of the Black Burn.
