Following the repeated exhortations of Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis for Catholics to make a serious commitment to the preservation of the environment and to be conscientious stewards of the resources of the world, the monks of Pluscarden Abbey are happy to declare that we are members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The GTBS helps us to ensure that not only do we always comply with current environmental legislation, but that we be made aware of ways in which we can improve our care for the environment.

We are committed to maintaining a responsible use of natural resources, and to strive to improve our stewardship of the environment.

We have recently installed a wood-chip heating system to provide all the heat for the main Abbey buildings, thus considerably reducing our annual CO2 output.
