Sunday 12 April: Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion

Conventual Mass as usual at 10.00, with Blessing and Procession of Palms, and reading of the Passion according to St. Luke.

Thursday 17 April: Maundy Thursday

Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7.00, with washing of feet, and removal of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Compline.

Watching at the Altar of Repose until midnight.

Friday 18 April: Good Friday

Liturgy at 3.00, with singing of the Passion according to St. John (in Latin), veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion.

Saturday 19 April: Holy Saturday

Vespers at 4.30.

THE PASCHAL VIGIL at 11.00: with the blessing of new fire and of the Paschal Candle; the singing of the Exsultet; 8 readings before the Gospel with the ancient sung Tracts; blessing of Holy Water and renewal of Baptismal promises; Confirmations; Mass concluded as usual.

Sunday 20 April: Easter Sunday

Mass at 10.00, with Procession, weather permitting.

Monday and Tuesday 21 - 22 April

Mass at 10.00

Wednesday 23 April: Easter Wednesday

Maundy Thursday, 6 April 2023

Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7.00 p.m., with the Mandatum (washing of feet), and the solemn transfer of the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose (Lady Chapel). Compline follows; then our guests are welcome to join us for watching until midnight.

Good Friday, 7 April 2023

Day of fasting and abstinence.

The Liturgy at 3.00 pm., with the singing of the St. John Passion (in Latin), the solemn Intercessions, the veneration of the Cross, the Reproaches, and Holy Communion.

The Relic of the True Cross is venerated at Compline at 7.30 p.m.

 

Holy Saturday, 8 April 2023

No morning Mass. The Paschal Vigil at 11.00 p.m. The Liturgy begins with the Rite of Easter Fire, the lighting of the Paschal Candle and the singing of the Exsultet (in Latin). All seven Old Testament Readings are read at Pluscarden in full, interspersed with the very ancient Gregorian Tracts. After the Epistle, the Solemn Alleluia, the proclamation of the Easter Gospel and the homily, holy water is blessed, and all renew their baptismal promises, holding lit candles. After that the Eucharistic liturgy proceeds as normal. Mass ends at around 0145.
