Thursday 17 September marked the 60th anniversary of Fr. Matthew's entry into monastic life at Quarr Abbey.

The Pluscarden community had a little private celebration to congratulate him on passing that significant milestone, and to thank him for his perseverance and dedication and edifying example. Fr. Matthew's commitment to seeking God through the Benedictine life of prayer, and worship, and community, has been going for 60 years, and it continues unfailingly on. Nowadays though, increasingly, he is experiencing some of the infirmities that come with advancing years. He is always grateful for the prayers of his brethren and friends.
