Snow on Snow

Between Vespers and Benediction on the Feast of the Epiphany, here at Pluscarden, we sang part of Christina Rossetti's 1872 Carol "In the Bleak Midwinter":

In the bleak mid-winter
  Frosty wind made moan
Earth stood hard as iron,
  Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
  Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
  Long ago.

These words were topical, because throughout the New Year period we have been experiencing snow on snow, snow on snow. Happily our heating system works well. So also happily does modern drone technology. Some nice atmospheric pictures are offered here, taken by drone on two separate occasions. The Abbey roofs are designed to discourage settled snow, so the camera man needs to act quickly after snow fall, before the beautiful white blankets slide off.
