At the time of writing (12 November 2024) our beautiful new St. Joseph's guest house is essentially finished, though not yet occupied by guests. The workmen still have a few small jobs to finish off, here and there: the curtains for each bed room have yet to be put up; some small items of furniture have yet to be correctly placed; the Building Standards Authorities have yet to sign off the work as officially completed. But everything works, everything is impressive, and everyone is very much satisfed with what our builders have achieved!
At 3.00 p.m. on Saturday 30th November - the Feast of St. Andrew - there will be a public ceremony of blessing of St. Joseph's, followed by an open house, with refreshments etc. In particular there will be blessed then the free standing Statue of St. Joseph, designed to fit in the curve of the stone staircase, facing the main entrance doorway. This statue will be the final and greatest work for us of sculptor Philip Chatfield, who has already contributed so much to this project. That is: we hope and trust the statue will be ready in time! As yet it remains work in progress: but Philip is confident he will manage!
