Our community at St. Mary's Petersham mourns the passing of its brother Jerome Leo, who died after a long illness on 3rd July 2023.

Br. Jerome Leo was born on 3rd June 1949. He made vows as a diocesan hermit on 15th June 1992. He became a resident hermit at Petersham in June 1996, and a regular oblate of St Mary's Monastery on 3rd August 2001.

Br. Jerome Leo was perhaps especially well known as a blogger, posting a daily comment on the Holy Rule, with a devoted following for that of many thousands. Many friends of Petersham also got to know him particularly during his time as guestmaster there.

Those who know Pluscarden but not Petersham may recall that he read one of the scripture readings at the Mass of Fr. Abbot Anselm's Abbatial Blessing in October 2011.
