In spite of quite a long spell of hard frost in early December, our builders have started to raise the first walls for the basement of St. Joseph's Guest House. These walls are undergirded by special drainage pipes, as well as by more insulation, and protected by heavy-duty damp courses.
Meanwhile our resident sculptor Philip Chatfield has been getting on with carving some lettering on sandstone blocks:
"Redemptoris custos ora pro nobis" - "Guardian of the Redeemer, pray for us"
This carved motto will join the several other works of Philip adorning and enhancing our new building.
