With everyone else in the country, the Pluscarden Community finds itself compelled to obey the directives of our Government, as underscored also by our Bishops. With reluctance then we have to announce that Pluscarden Abbey is now closed to all Visitors until further notice. The doors to our Church will henceforth be kept locked, until the situation improves. In the current circumstances it is not possible for people to come in, even privately, to pray. Within our walls, though, the life of prayer, work and community living continues on uninterrupted. Some relatively minor adjustments have had to be made, so that the risk of transmitting infection within the community is minimised as far as possible. But for us at the Abbey, this must be a time for deepening our prayer, and strengthening our monastic commitment: for the glory of God, the needs of the Church and the sorrows of the world.
