On Saturday 9 June Pluscarden received a rather unusual group of Pilgrims from Russia: wives of Russian Orthodox Priests. Leaving their husbands at home, these ladies were touring Scotland especially to visit sites of Saints who pre-dated the formal schism between East and West in the 11th century. So it was no accident that they joined us for Mass on the Feast of St. Columba of Iona. Used to the liturgy celebrated in Old Church Slavonic, they were delighted with our Latin liturgy and Gregorian Chant, which they had never heard before!
