The Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima duly arrived at Pluscarden, for a special Novena of prayer, 11 - 19 June 2017.
One guest spontaneously exclaimed on seeing it: "I never knew a statue could be so beautiful!"
Fr. Joe McAuley, Chaplain to the Fatima Apostolate, Scotland, came up specially from Glasgow to lead the Pluscarden community and local friends in rosary devotions, and to preach on the Centenary of the Second Apparition, Tuesday 13 June.
Many intentions are being entrusted to Our Lady during these days of grace, but in particular for peace in the world, and for vocations to our community.
The following prayer is being recited at Pluscarden for these intentions:
Heavenly Father, when the world was engulfed by war you sent the Blessed Virgin Mary to the three shepherd children at Fatima, exhorting them to prayer and penance, so as to lead humanity back to your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
And so, praying before this pilgrim statue of our Lady of Fatima, we implore you that through the infinite merits of the most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the peace of Christ may reign in our world that is so torn by violence and hatred.
And if it pleases You, we also ask that through the intercession of our Lady of Fatima You may send more men to join this monastery of our Lady and St John the Baptist at Pluscarden, to lead a life of prayer, penance and praise for the salvation of souls and for Your greater glory.
We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen
